The whole educational system from elementary to higher level has been distorted during the lockdown period of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) not only in India but across the world. According to UNESCO, almost 70% of the world’s students are not attending school. These countrywide closures are affecting hundreds of millions of students. Children as well as parents are facing challenges with only online education and no conventional training.

Education has transformed significantly, with the rise of e-learning, whereby teaching is undertaken on digital platforms. Classes on Skype, Zoom and WhatsApp are becoming the custom for students, parents, and teachers.

Researchers suggest that E-learning has shown to increase retention of information and takes less time. That means the changes coronavirus have caused might be here to stay. With this sudden shift away from conventional teaching (classrooms) in many parts of the world, some are wondering whether the acceptance of online learning will continue post-pandemic or not.

Here are few tips that can be followed to give the best of e-learning to students in these times:

1. Choose the best learning app for students:
Parents have to choose an app or a tutor who provides a blend of both conventional and online learning. The kids are no strangers to the computer. Unlike previous generations, they know how to use devices better than the grown-ups. The parents need to keep in mind that the children must be asked to do Yoga or painting or crafts. So there is a bit of screen time, but it is distributed with hands-on activities and experiments.

2. Measure Learning :

Various online classes for children are encouraging them to do assignments and take tests. Simple measurements like quizzes or problem-solving can state about the progress of the child.

3. Encourage breaks :

From lunch time to roaming with friends, schools are built around routine. The same should be offered at home, too. Parents have to schedule lunch time, free time and walks throughout the day. That way, children can measure their day on a clock, like they would at school.

4. Keep a check on screen-time:
According to experts activities such as aimless social media browsing, binge-watching, and excessive gaming can damage young and developing minds. It is really important for the children to invest their time in productive and cognitive activities.

5. Don’t be afraid to search for online tuition for kids :

If you’re finding that your child is frequently having trouble while learning online. It might be time to reach out to a professional. It is important for the parents to read the body language of the child to know that they might be struggling. Children sometimes need one-on-one attention, which is why getting a tutor might help.

Every child is unique and it’s important to find out what works best for your kid. For parents, this is the most uninterrupted time that they’ve gotten to spend with their children. Treasure that and take advantage of it — observe them and figure out what helps them maintain focus, the length of learning sessions, the times that they are most engaged and also, find the best learning app to get the best out of them.
